This blog serves 1 to 3 purposes.

  1. To Inform
There are a lot of people who are too busy with work and family to keep up with everything that is going in the music scene. There are people who are interested in participating in live music, but do not know where to start. These blog posts will inform others of bands that are putting out new music, (I will try to include links to other social media) This can help you decide to buy some music online so that you may support the band, even if you cannot make it to a show. It also informs potential fans who want to try and make it out to shows, maybe they will pick a band that was featured on a blog post.
  2. To Promote
Local bands are basically local businesses. I want them to succeed. By choosing bands that are particularly interesting, I can help push their name around the web, and start as many discussions as possible. Links will be provided in every blog post, that will take you to their preferred social media.
  3. To Critique
There is no such thing as a perfect band. There are always ways to improve. It does not matter what level you are at. If the band reads a review, it could keep them from stagnating, and stimulate progress. All criticism is intended to be constructive and aid the progress of the band. It is not meant to highlight errors or mistakes. It is up to the band to consider the suggestions, or ignore them. I’m trying to avoid an “Emperor’s New Clothes” situation. After a band plays and asks, “What do you think?” Of course they are going to say it sounded good. There is a point where too much positivity is counter productive. With these in depth reviews, I can pinpoint exactly what I like and dislike, and why. The truth doesn’t care about your feelings. And sometimes it is necessary to move forward.
